AC Install: The most important item of a new system

The hot, humid summer days are right around the corner. In our part of Texas, having a cool home is key to surviving the sweat-inducing days and nights. If you are looking for a new Air Conditioning System, you need to understand the installation process as well. Here at BVS Home Experts, we believe, “the most important day in determining the life-span of an air conditioner is install day.” If not installed properly, it just won’t last.

For example, if a 16 Seer AC system is installed and the duct work is left as is (Avg Ducts have a 30-40% leakage), your “New” AC unit is only performing at 70%.  And that 16 Seer efficiency is really about 12 Seer (or less). In plain English, your power bills won’t be lower and your AC won’t last as long.  Like putting extra miles on your car when you don’t need to.

Installing an AC unit is a complex task, and a certified HVAC technician will do the work safely and properly. The basic steps of installation are:

  • Set up the new condenser
  • Run wires and tubing
  • Install the evaporator coil and refrigerant lines
  • Connect high and low voltage
  • Install drain tubing

AT BVS, We take it “a few” steps further.  As in 8 additional steps to ensure your AC will perform for many years later!

We take the installation process a bit further to ensure your AC unit works well and has a longer life span.

Copper/Nitrogen Purge – Our technicians weld copper pipes together when installing a new system. Sludge builds up inside the pipes during this process. Over time, the sludge breaks up and move inside your AC unit. We purge the pipes with nitrogen to remove the sludge, extending the life of your system.

2Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) – Adding a TXV increases efficiency up to ½ a SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio). We install one on all units.

3Ceiling Saver – The ceiling saver is exactly what it sounds like. It is an automated emergency fail-safe switch to prevent flooding.

4Adjustable Metal Dampers – The dampers are placed in the ducts to direct and adjust air flow. They remove hot and cold spots in your home.

5Air-Flow Balancing – We ensure air flow is balanced in your home. Using air flow hoods, we measure air flow and make adjustments as needed.

6Duct Sealing – Ducts that aren’t properly sealed can leak up to 30%. We seal all connections, around the return air chase, and around ceiling grills. We also pressure test the duct work looking for leaks.

7Green Guard – We care about your health and understand the needs of families with allergies. As such, we treat the inner liner of the duct with an anti-microbial to kill bacteria, duct mites, and more.

8HEPA Filters – Our filters remove over 98% of airborne particles, cleaning the air in your home.

We have experts in air conditioning repair and replacement standing by 24/7 (yes, even on holidays!) so that we can take care of your home. Contact BVS Home Experts today to restore your comfort.
